Abstract:

Rocky shores are one of the most important habitats of marine environment in coastal areas. This study was done in 2010-2011 to investigate the diversity of TRUE CRABS in intertidal rocky shores of Qeshm island.Samples were collected from intertidal zones during the low-tide at 5 stations. The specimens werefixed in 70% Etanol and transferred to laboratory for identification. Altogether, 15 crab species belonging to 8 families and 14 genus were identified.4 species were from Portunidae, 3 species from Eriphiidae, 2 species from Majidae, 2 species from Grapsidae were identified. The others families including Euryplacidae, Leucociidae, Pilumnidae and Xanthidae families have the lowest species richness with only 1 species per family. Portunidae family with 4 species in intertidal zone had the highest species richness amongst studied stations.3 species of Eriphia smithi from Eriphiidae family, Leptodius exaratus from Xanthidae family and Thalamita crenata from Portunidae family were present at all three intertidal zones (High tide, Mid tide and Low tide).

Abstract:

This study has been done to investigate crab funa of sub tidal regions in Gulf of Oman,  2010. To this purpose, a stern trawles, 56 stations from Hormoz strait to Meydani area were designated. Localities in thirteen species belonging to eight genera from seven families were identified. The most frequent family was Portunidae with 56% and high commercial value, and the least frequency observed by Calappidae and Parthenopidae with 2%.

Abstract:

This study was conducted to identify the intertidal crab species and their temporal distribution caught by set net in northwest of the Qeshm Island. A total of 120 CRABS were collected monthly from February 2015 to January 2016. The specimens were collected by hand and then fixed in formaldehyde 10%, transported to the laboratory and then identified based on their morphological characteristics using identification keys. The results showed that the specimens belong to 3 families including Portunidae, Macrophthalmidae and Pilumnidae. Portunus segnis and Venitus dentipes were dominant species in set net in northwest of the Qeshm Island whereas, Eurycarcinus orientaliswas observed in some months in the study period. Temporal distribution and frequency of species was different in overall year, so that the frequency of CRABS in warm seasons (spring and summer) was higher than than in cold season (winter).

Abstract:

An annotated checklist of marine brachyuran CRABS from Gujarat waters is prepared based on past and recent literature. In total, 152 species from 87 genera and 29 families of brachyuran CRABS including four new records and two revisions are listed. Gulf of Kutch comprises higher species diversity in comparison to Saurashtra coastline and Gulf of Khambhat. Dorippe quadridens (Fabricius, 1793), Lyphira perplexa Galil, 2009, Lewindromia unidentata (Rü ppell, 1830) were reported for the first time from Gujarat whereas Planes major (MacLeay, 1838) was from Gujarat and India. Matuta victor (Fabricius, 1781) and Portunus segnis (Forskå l, 1775) formerly misidentified in Gujarat waters are revised. Taxonomic description, habitat and distribution status of these species are presented.

Abstract:

The concept of very TRUE GE-algebra using very TRUE operator is introduced and its properties are studied to expand the scope of research of GE-algebras. The concepts of simple very TRUE GE-algebra and very TRUE GE-filter are introduced. The characterization of simple very TRUE GE-algebra is discussed, and several properties on very TRUE GE-filter are investigated. Using a very TRUE GE-filter, the quotient very TRUE GE-algebra is constructed, and the uniform and topological space are established.

Abstract:

The hermit CRABS fauna of the Gulf of Oman are not well known. Material of the present study was collected from 14 intertidal localities along the Iranian coast of the Gulf of Oman. The eight hermit crab species belong to three families Coenobitidae (Coenobita scaevola ), Diogenidae (Diogenesavarus, D. planimanus, D. custos, Clibanarius signatus, C. virescens and C. longitarsus) and Paguridae (Pagurus kulkamil). Amongst hermit CRABS of the present study, Diogenes customs and Pagurus kulkamii are new records for the area. Notes on habitat preferences, most common host shells and geographical distributions for all species are provided.

Abstract:

We studied the reproductive behavior and the construction of an earthen structure in thefour species of fiddler crab with reference to their habitat. Males of the Uca sindensis and U. iranicainhibit on open mudflats, construct the pillar and semidome structures at or near to the burrowsopenings. These structures perform the function to attract females, who wandering on the surfacebetween male burrows for mating as well as provide protection or hiding object against the avianpredator to mates. There were no earthen structures were observed in U. urvillie and U. annulipes, which inhibit among the vegetation. The well-marked intersexual different arrangement of mudballswas observed in U. annulipes. The earthen structures (pillar and semidome) and mudballsarrangements help courting females to assess the quality of mate as well as internal conditions of theburrow.
